Description
Organic Earl Grey with a Refined French Character
Le Comte d’Étretat from Tatasse is an organic Earl Grey created for tea drinkers who enjoy the unmistakable fragrance of bergamot combined with a rich and characterful black tea.
Rather than relying on a single black tea, Tatasse combines teas from China, Assam and Darjeeling, creating a more complex base for the classic Earl Grey flavour.
Chinese black tea contributes roundness and balance, Assam brings body and strength, while Darjeeling adds a more delicate and elegant aromatic character.
The blend is finished with organic bergamot oil and organic bergamot peel, creating fresh citrus aromas that complement rather than overpower the underlying black tea.
The result is a beautifully balanced loose-leaf Earl Grey suitable for breakfast, an afternoon tea break or whenever you want a more aromatic cup of black tea.
What Does Le Comte d’Étretat Taste Like?
Expect a classic yet sophisticated Earl Grey profile.
The first impression is fresh and distinctly citrusy, followed by the fuller flavour of the black tea blend. Bergamot provides its characteristic fragrant citrus character, while the combination of Assam, Darjeeling and Chinese black teas gives the infusion greater depth.
Flavour profile:
- Full-bodied black tea
- Fresh bergamot
- Bright citrus character
- Elegant floral nuances
- Structured and rounded body
- Long aromatic finish
It is an excellent choice for people who enjoy traditional Earl Grey but want something more complex than a standard supermarket tea bag.
Three Black Teas in One Blend
One of the most interesting characteristics of Le Comte d’Étretat is its combination of three different black tea origins.
China Black Tea
Provides a smooth and rounded foundation that helps balance the stronger Assam tea and aromatic bergamot.
Assam Black Tea
Indian Assam gives the blend additional strength, body and structure, making this Earl Grey particularly satisfying in the morning.
Darjeeling Black Tea
Darjeeling contributes refinement and more delicate aromatic nuances, adding complexity to the finished cup.
Together, the three teas create a versatile black tea base for the bright flavour of bergamot.
Real Bergamot Oil and Bergamot Peel
The distinctive character of Earl Grey comes from bergamot, a fragrant citrus fruit particularly valued for its aromatic peel and essential oil.
Tatasse uses both organic bergamot oil and organic bergamot peel.
The bergamot oil contributes an immediate fresh citrus aroma, while pieces of bergamot peel reinforce the natural citrus character of the loose-leaf blend.
The combination produces the unmistakable fragrance Earl Grey lovers expect while maintaining the flavour and structure of the black tea underneath.
How to Prepare Tatasse Le Comte d’Étretat
